Yale Freshman Class.

Although it was expected that the Academic Freshman class at Yale would be smaller this year than last, the figures so far received seem to show that '99 has the usual increase in numbers. Over 400 men took the examinations in different parts of the country and of these 120 were accepted in full, while 192 were conditioned. Fifty more received preliminary certificates. This leaves a total of 362 men for '99, but the class will probably enter with not more than 350 members as compared with 338 in last year's freshman class. Harvard '99 is about 100 larger, numbering 465 men, a gain of 47 over last year. '98 S. is probably smaller than than the Sheff. freshman class last year, though no reliable figures can be obtained as yet.
