About fifty men answered the call for candidates to the Brown track athletic team.
The baseball team of the University of Pennsylvania will commence practice Jan. 15. Arthur Irwin and Gus Weyhing will coach the team this year.
Roy A. Thomas has resigned the captaincy of the U. of P. baseball team on account of press of college work. It is doubtful whether he will play this year.
Lieutenant Bell, of the Cornell military company, has decided to introduce into the drill bayonet and sabre fencing. The officers of the company will also have practice with the foils.
Professor W. M. Davis in cooperation with Mr. A. E. Frye has in preparation a new common school geography. The book is to be published by Ginn & Co. of Boston, and will appear this spring.
The Brown Catalogue, recently published, gives the number of students as 740, of which graduates constitute 108, seniors 91, juniors 112, sophomores 144, freshmen 140. select course 45 and Women's College 100. The list of the professors and instructors give 83 members on the faculty.
