Of the men who are now practicing pitching in the cage Highlands, Paine, Ames and Perry have all pitched in a 'varsity game. Scannell is the only man trying for catcher who played last year, and unless some good material is developed, appearances point to a weakness in this important position. A catcher is the one man on a ball team most liable to injuries and consequently a good substitute catcher is of the first importance.
It is too early as yet to form any ideas as to the individual merits of the men, but at present it seems as though the pitching department would be stronger than last year, while the catcher's position would be weak for lack of substitutes.
Manager White expects to have the baseball schedule completed by the last of February and the probability is that no more games will be given out than have appeared in former issues of the CRIMSON.
