Spring Concert of the Musical Clubs.

The sale of seats for the annual spring concert of the Glee, Banjo and Mandolin Clubs and the Pierian Sodality in Sanders Theatre, Thursday, May 17, has been in progress for a little over a week and nearly all the best seats have been taken. The sale to persons outside of the University has been unusually large.

The Glee Club has an entirely new programme and has benefited greatly by the efficient training of Mr. Warren A. Locke, the University choir-master. The Banjo Club has been remodelled under the new management and is playing better than ever. The number of banjeaurines has been increased and second banjos have been introduced so as to improve the harmonic effect. The Mandolin Club is composed entirely of experienced players and is keeping up the high standard which it has maintained for the last few years.

The Pierian Sodality is now under the direction of C. L. Safford '94 who was formerly the leader of the Williams Glee Club and is now studying under Professor Paine. The club has shown a great improvement and has the additional merit of playing entirely without the help of hired musicians. Among the pieces which will be played in the concert will be an original composition by E. B. Hill '94, a selection from "Granada" by D. G. Mason '95 and a piece arranged for strings by C. L. Safford '94.
