Freshman Baseball.

The constant practice of the candidates for the freshman nine has resulted in a marked improvement in the individual work of the players but, as yet, team play is wholly lacking. This defect is due principally to the fact that frequent changes in the make-up of the nine have been necessary on account of the large number of candidates. At present, the first nine is as follows: Benson, c.; Gregory and Harris, P.; Warren, 1b.; Dean, 2b.; Anderson, 3b.; Sporborg, S. S.; Beale, l. f.; Roberts, c. f.; and Lord, r. f.

All of these men have played on their preparatory school teams and judging from their present work, few changes will be made in the team. In the more important games, however, the freshmen now with the 'varsity will in all probability play with their class team. The most noticeable weaknesses of the players are poor batting and careless base running.
