The Mott Haven Team will go into strict training today, and hereafter all candidates for the team will meet in front of Matthews at 8 a. m. daily.
The following men, seventeen in all, will go to the training table at 13 Bow street today at lunch:
H. R. Storrs '96 and J. P. Whittren '95 for the sprints; S. M. Merrill '94 for the sprints or quarter mile; N. W. Bingham, Jr., '95, for the quarter mile; E. B. Hill '94, H. C. Lakin '94, and E. Hollister '97, for the half mile; J. L. Coolidge '95, for the mile; W. F. Garcelon L. S. and H. W. Jameson '95, for the hurdles; J. D. Phillips '97, for the mile walk; F. S. Elliot '95 and A. B. Holmes '96, for the bicycle race; W. E. Putnam, Jr., '96 and A. Stickney '97, for the high jump; E. B. Bloss '94 for the broad jump, and H. M. Wheelwright '94 (capt.), for the hurdles and pole vault.
Of these men Merrill won first in the 220 and 440 in the Yale games, Bloss won first in the broad jump in both the Yale and Intercollegiates; Garcelon won first in the Yale games and second at the Intercollegiates in the low hurdles; Wheelwright won second in the Yale games and tied for third in the Intercollegiates in the pole vault; Putnam won third in the Yale games and second at the Intercollegiates in the high jump; Bingham won second in the Yale games and tied for third in the Intercollegiates in the quarter mile; Holmes won third in the Yale games in the bicycle-race; Lakin won second in the Yale games in the half mile, and Jameson won third in the Intercollegiates in the low hurdles. In other words the men who will go to the training table today won 28 points in the Yale games and only 10 1-2 points at the Intercollegiates. Storrs, Coolidge, Stickney, Hollister and Phillips are all new men to the team and considerable is expected of them. More men will go to the training-table as soon as they prove their worth.
