Last night in Harvard 1, Mr. S. J. Barrows delivered a lecture on "Dorpfeld's Contribution to Greek Archaeology." The lecture was rather archaeological than biographical; but a short account of Dorpfeld's life was given. It is not necessary to dwell long on this.
Born in 1853, Dorpfeld received an education as an architect. He was destined, however, to study old buildings, not to construct new. At the age of twenty-four he was sent to Olympia, and since that time he has been constantly engaged in archaeological investigation of every kind.
