The value of perfectly free discussion of difficult questions in the courses in Economics is so apparent that it seems all the greater pity that there should be any abuse of privileges. In almost every such course there are some men who will go out of their way to argue a point with the instructor even when it seems that they must know they are in the wrong. While these little off-hand debates may be a source of the greatest pleasure to the men who seek to promote them, they are generally far from such to the class as a whole.
