Men in the final round of the tournament are requested to observe a time limit of fifteen moves an hour.
Wendell Phillips Club.The Wendell Phillips Club held its second competitive debate last night in Harvard 1. The question was: "Resolved, That universal male suffrage has proved absurd in theory and ineffectual in practice." It was discussed in the affirmative by F. C. Thwaits L. S., and in the negative by W. E. Hutton '95.
In the executive session, Messrs. Carl Schurz and Theodore Roosevelt were elected honorary members. W. B. Truesdell '97 and F. C. Roche L. S., were elected regular members, and Mr. W. E. Hutton '95, was elected to fill the place on the executive committee left vacant by the resignation of F. C. Thwaits L. S. It was voted to challenge the Harvard Union to a joint debate.
A proposition to change the name of the club was laid upon the table till the next meeting.
