The Harvard Union and the Wendell Phillips Club have made a move in the right direction by providing for the formation of a Freshman Union. There is urgent need of some means whereby new students in the University who are not at all trained speakers may practice debate without being handicapped by the diffidence which is inevitable in speaking before men of greater experience. The Freshman Union will need wise management to make it successful, but its success will be significant.
