The lack of interest which the would-be class football player shows in the practice work is most disheartening. Except when there is a game and he thinks there is a chance of his playing, the average man, if he wishes to do something else, very unselfishly surrenders his chances for the team, and goes his way.
There is need for men for some positions on all the class teams, and these positions must necessarily be filled, not by the men who are the best players, but by those who stick conscientiously to their work.
