Wendell Phillips Club.

A very successful meeting of the Wendell Phillips Club was held last evening. Seventeen men competed for membership, and the following men were taken on: R. C. Thomas '96, C. B. White '96, R. B. Sprague '97, Thomas Weston, Jr., '95, and E. V. Huntington '95.

Harvard Union.An unusually large number attended the competitive debate for membership in the Harvard Union last night. After the principal disputants, E. H. Warren '95 and S. H. Foster L. S., a large number of candidates spoke from the floor. They were, for the affirmative: N. B. Marshall '97, T. Weston '95, J. P. Hall L. S., H. J. Peters '95, A. E. Dacy L. S., H. K. Stanley '97, J. B. Stearns '96, P. G. Noon '95, L. B. Murdock '96, R. C. Davis '97, C. E. Browne '98, H. R. Hughes '97 and T. J. Butler Sp.; for the negative: E. M. Grossman '96, W. M. Trotter '95, M. G. Selig '96, S. P. Delaney '96, L. Ross L. S., F. S. Elliot '95, G. W. Creelman '96, A. Z. Reed '97, W. F. Dill Sp., J. P. Gateley '97, L. A. Friedman L. S., J. H. Lewis '96, R. G. Dodge L. S., W. B. Truesdell '97 and E. Gates L. S.

No freshmen will be elected members of the Union.
