'Varsity Practice.

A decided improvement over Thursday's work was shown by the 'varsity football team yesterday afternoon. The eleven exhibited more snap, the interference was better than usual and on the whole the work was very encouraging. Ex-Captain Waters played in the line for the first time and materially strengthened it. His position was right tackle. Wrightington also resumed his position behind the line. Fairchild was tried at fullback on the 'varsity but had little opportunity for making any long gains.

Most of the afternoon was spent in practicing the signals and in perfecting the interference. Several new plays were introduced which worked excellently, in the short practice game. The first eleven had little difficulty in holding the second team and were able to make good gains.

Gierach, halfback on the second, tackled well and occasionally got into the 'varsity's interference in fine style.

The teams lined up as follows:

FIRST ELEVEN. SECOND ELEVEN.
