Saturday's game resulted in a victory for Harvard by a score of 14 to 0. A driving rain and a muddy, slippery field made the play loose and erratic, but the game was not without many satisfactory points from a Harvard standpoint.

Orange presented a strong eleven and one much heavier than the 'varsity. But the Harvard players entered the game with more confidence and determination than they have shown before this year, and played a hard, aggressive game. The interference was still weak, but good team play would have been almost an impossibility under the circumstances. On the defensive the 'varsity was very strong, and the only material gains of the Orange backs were two rushes of Cummings around the left end and a 15 yard run of Fielder around the right.

The two Brewers, as usual, played brilliantly. Moulton proved a very lively end, and excepting a couple of substantial gains round his end, played a beautiful game. Gould made some clever tackles and played the best game he has shown this year. The two Shaws held finely in the centre. Both Beale and foster were tried at quarterback, but the fearful condition of the field prevented either from playing a very clean game.

Buell was many pounds heavier than Murchie and did some of the strongest work in the Orange line. Capt. Coyne, the old Princeton end, got in some pretty tackles whenever the interference came his way.

The opening play was one of the prettiest of the game. Brewer received the kick at the 25 yard line and splashed down the field for 85 yards and a touch-down, aided by magnificent blocking of half the team. A. Brewer kicked the goal and the score stood 6 to 0 at the close of one minute's play.

For the rest of the half the 'varsity were unable to force the ball across the goal line. It was too slippery for the backs to long keep the ball. Kicks were frequent and both sides repeatedly lost the ball on downs. Just before the close of the half Orange advanced the ball to the ten yard line, but here the 'varsity centre stood firm as a rock and took the ball on downs.

The second half opened with Harvard's kick-off. Gordon fumbled the kick and Moulton secured the ball. The 'varsity pushed it steadily to the five yard line, where they lost it on a bad pass. A brewer broke through and downed Gordon before he could kick, making a safety, and the score stood 8 to 0.

Another muff of a long punt again gave Moulton the ball at the 35 yard line. From this point a touchdown was easy work. A. Brewer kicked the goal, making the score, as it remained, 14 to 0.

After the game it was found that A. Brewer had hurt his jaw badly, and for a time at least he will be unable to continue playing.
