Intercollegiate Chess Tournament.

The intercollegiate chess tournament held in New York during the recess was won again by Columbia, with Harvard second. The order with the games won is as follows: Columbia 8 1-2, Harvard 7, Yale 5, Princeton 3 1-2.

Hymes of Columbia made the best individual record, winning five and drawing one, that being with J. Hewins, Jr. '96, of Harvard. Hewins was second with four games won and two drawn. T. Spalding '95, the other Harvard representative, won one game, drew two, lost three.

Hewins won from Ross and Skinner of Yale, Roberts of Princeton, and Lebaire of Columbia, and drew with Hymes of Columbia and Ewing of Princetion. Spalding won from Ross of Yale, drew with Ewing of Princeton and Skinner of Yale, and lost to Hymes and Lebaire of Columbia and Roberts of Princeton.

In the Harvard chess tournament, Harold W. Lewis '96, won after playing off the tie with L. Shoenfeld, L. S. S.
