Rev. S. M. Crothers preached at the Vesper service in Appleton Chapel yesterday from the text "We were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us." This Paul wrote in his first letter to the Thessalonians, the people that he loved better than any others. He meant that he wanted to give the Thessalonians everything that was in his power, even to his own life. This is the sort of men needed today, men who can forget their own welfare and dedicate themselves to the service of others. The words of Christ, "We are members of one another," are better understood now than they were fifty years ago. The only way that a man can do any good is by remembering that he is a member of the whole body of the people of God and by putting his best effort into work for the whole. And this is what men are doing today more than ever before. Business men are working and planning for the good of the community, and governors are trying to govern us in the way that shall be best for every one, scientists are working to find the best ways of living and the cures for diseases, nearly everyone is working for the universal good.
