The game with Georgetown yesterday was an easy victory for the home team. Georgetown put up a strong game, her fielders made but a single error, and Carmody, the pitcher, sustained his reputation by holding down the Harvard men to six hits. Harvard, however, did still better; the fielders likewise played almost faultlessly, and Highlands allowed his opponents but two singles.
In the section back of the catcher, a crowd of Georgetown supporters were gathered, and their actions would have disgraced any professional ball field. Besides this, some of the players themselves acted like anything but gentlemen. Such a team is out of place on a Harvard diamond.
Frothingham returned to his position at second, and played his position without a slip. He did the best batting of the game - two singles out of three chances. Abbott was ill, and Hapgood '94 took his place at third. He showed himself to be in no way outclassed. He handled five chances, - four of them on ground balls, without an error, and met the ball each, time once safely. Sullivan played finely at short.
Upton had a very unusual record at the bat. He came to the plate four times, and did not once touch the ball fairly. Once he struck out, and three times he was given his base on balls.
Hallowell and Mason opened the game by going to first on balls, and an eratic throw sent Hallowell home and Mason to third. Frothingham brought Mason in with a timely single. In the seventh Hap good hit safely, went to third on a wild pitch, and reached home on Highlands hit to second. Hallowell forced Highlands at second, but stole himself, and came in on Frothingham's second hit. The next inning, Upton went to first on balls, stole, and came in on Sullivan's hit. George-town's only run was made in the eighth. Dowd made a hit, was advanced on a sacrifice, and came home on Trafford's error.
