HARVARD 2 - BROWN 2.

Yesterday's game with Brown was not so satisfactory as it might have been, in spite of the score. In the first place, the 'varsity batted poorly with the exception of Upton, who made a timely home ran in the eighth inning, and Hovey who made two hits, one for three bases. Outside of that, there were just two hits. Eight men struck out, which is about the poorest record this year. Nearly every ball that was hit went into the air. Brown, on the other hand, made eight hits, all singles, though Wiggin kept them well scattered.

The two runs for Brown were made in the third inning, with two men out. McLane had struck out, Weeks had flied out to Abbott. Then Sexton made a hit, got second on a passed ball, Tenney was given a base on balls, each man was advanced a base by a wild throw of Wiggin, and came in on sharp hit by Steere.

Harvard made one run in the second. Cook made a hit, get third on Steere's error at Hovey's hit, and home on a sacrifice by Trafford to left field. The other run was Upton's home run to left field in the eighth.

The fielding on both sides was sharp and clean. McLane made a fine catch in left field, and was injured by running into a post close by the grand stand. Weeks also made a phenomenal stop at first. In the eighth Upton caught a difficult foul fly and made the best throw of the afternoon to second base, cutting off Weeks, who had started from first.
