To the Editors of the Crimson:

It appears by a communication in yesterday's CRIMSON that a misunderstanding exists as to the nine which has been organized in the Law School.

The Andover management were informed that a nine had been organized by some members of the Law School, but that it was not representative and did not wish to be so considered. Probably for purposes of convenience the Andover management called the nine the Harvard Law School team.

The nine was organized solely for the amusement of its members. It does not affect to represent the Law School and could not do so, as all its members are not from that department. Further especial care has been taken that it should be called "a scrub nine" in the notices which have heretofore appeared in the CRIMSON.

We the undersigned, a committee of the Harvard Dining Association, do hereby most earnestly protest against the scheme for a new dining hall as outlined in circulars issued by Mr. Bolles yesterday. Our reasons are as follows:

In the first place the actual price per man per week will be but a very few cents less than that charged at Memorial. This statement is based on the hypothesis that $3.50 will be the weekly charge which we think is necessary for anything like satisfactory board.

Secondly, this new scheme allows for the continuance of the general table system, the greatest evil of Memorial.

Thirdly, we feel perfectly sure from observation and inquiry among the students a that there is no demand for a larger Foxcroft system than exists at present. If there were, the Foxcroft Club would have a waiting list.

Fourthly, we feel perfectly assured that the a la carte and the table d' hote systems cannot be carried on in one hall at the same time.

Moreover more than six hundred men have signified their desire to board at a ball similar to Memorial provided they cannot be accomodated there, and many of these have personally expressed their disapproval of the Foxcroft plan.

For these reasons, and for others less important, the committee by authority of Board of Directors feel obliged to protest against the details of the scheme proposed by the Corporation, and respectfully renew their petition for a new dining hall to be conducted similarly to Memorial.
