The varsity nine defeated the Holy Cross nine in a very interesting game at Worcester on Saturday by a score of 6 to 3.There was a large crowd present and each side received its lair share of applause. The fielding was especially sharp, both nines getting two double plays. In baiting. Harvard showed up extremely well making eleven hits with a total of twenty bases.
In the first inning Harvard got three runs on a three base hit by Hallowell, a double by Cook, a single by Hovey a double by Sullivan and a three base hit by Frothingham. For Holy Cross, Sherman made a double, stole third, but was left on base.
Neither side scored in the second, third of fourth innings.
In the fifth, Hallowell went out Cook made a single. got second on a passed ball Hovey got to first and Sullivan filled the bases by getting a base on balls Frothing ham sacrificed and Cook scored and Hovey came in on Trafford's single.
Neither side scored in the sixth and in the seventh Harvard got one on frothing-ham's home run.
In the eight Holy Crossmade three runs on hits by McCarthy and Leahy, an error by Hallowell, a steal by Bannan and a wild throw by Corbett. This was the last scoring done in the game Following is the score by Innings.
