Harvard men took three prizes in the two open events at the Roxbury Latin School games yesterday afternoon: first in the high jump and second and third in the 30 yards dash. These two events were by far the most interesting. In the high jump there were six Harvard entries. C. D. Heywood, B. A. A., was scratch and his best jump was 5 ft. 10 in. W. E. Putnam Harvard '96, with 3 1-2 inches handicap won the event by clearing very prettily 5 ft. 10 in. C. J. Paine, B. A. A. and Hopkinson A. A. made an actual jump of 5 ft. 11, which, with 1 1-2 inches handicap gave him second place. Third place was taken by F. Holt, R. L. S., 7 inches handicap, with an actual jump of 5 ft. 4 1-4 in. Putnam's record of 5 ft. 10 in is very creditable and marks him out as a promising man for this event.
In the open 30 yards dash, there were about a dozen Harvard entries. The finals brought out W. F. Baker '93, H. M. Wheelwright '94, M. Ladd '94 and I. S. Clark E. H. S. The event was won by Clark in 3 4-5 sec.; Baker, second, and Ladd, third.
The prizes for first, second and third men were silver medals.
