The Exeter eleven defeated the freshmen on Saturday, by a score of 20 to 6. They had decided advantage in weight and, owing to the condition of the field, used their mass plays to advantage. The freshman forwards, although strengthened by Shea, were unable to resist these attacks, but the ends did good work.
Donovan did by far the best individual playing, never failing to make long gains. For Exeter, Twombly and Leahy put up a strong, aggressive game in the line, while Holmes ran and tackled well. Irving and Pillsbury played creditably for the freshmen.
