To the Editors of the Crimson:

There seems to be a feeling prevalent in the college that three dollars is much to give for the use of a skating pond during the season. The price is really low. We can compare it only to the annual fee of the Weld Boat Club, which is five dollars, and to that of the Tennis Association, which is seven.

The sum of three dollars paid toward flooding and fencing Holmes Field would entitle the subscriber to the free use of a pond cleaned from the Cambridge muckers, constantly overflowed and kept free from snow, within a minutes walk from the college yard. In order then to make the scheme a success, those who are interested in it must come forward and give it their support.

To meet the necessary expenses it is estimated that subscriptions of three dollars will be none too large unless the numbers willing to maintain the pond is much larger than supposed.
