Brattle street, has been put under a new foreman, Mr. Forrest, who was, until recently, in business for himself in Cambridgeport. Besides this, arrangements have been made with McArthur, the furniture dealer in Boston, so that the society can sell directly from his stock without any mediate charges. This arrangement will make the sale of furniture in the old Pudding building unnecessary, and it will therefore be discontinued.

The volume of business is so much larger this year that an increased force of clerks will probably be necessary. Last year the total number, including those in the tailoring department, was fourteen, and in the present rush twenty are needed.

A decrease in the price of membership has been made from $1.50 to $1.00, and it is expected that a largely increased number of men will join. On the day that college opened the membership ran up to nearly 1000, as against a total membership of 1485 last year.
