Chess Tournament.

The annual chess tournament of the Harvard Chess and Whist Club will begin next week. Entries must be made in the blue-book at Bartlett's before Monday evening next, October 16. Entrance fee, fifty cents. Everyone in the University who knows anything about chess is urged to enter the tournament, upon which much depends. Not only will the winner hold the championship of the University, but the best two men will be asked to represent the college in the tournament, held in New York during the Christmas recess.

Last Christmas, the first year of the intercollegiate match, Harvard won second place, beating out Yale and Princeton, but this year something better must be done, and it can only be done by the co-operation of every man in college who plays chess.
