The training for the athletic teams will begin now - the nine, the crew and the Mott Haven team will resume their work with greater earnestness. Now is the time when every man in college should feel the responsibility that rests upon him individually for the success of our athletics. Every athletic team is desirous of having as many candidates as possible; the more they hae they better our prospects for victory. If every man in college came out and tried for some athletic team our victories would be constant. Too many men, however, are afraid to come out, fearing that they will not be wanted or that there is no "athletic stuff" in them. As regards the first point they can be sure of a ready welcome on any athletic team, for generally the more candidates there are the better the final material is; and as regards the last point no man can tell what he can do till he tries and some of our best athletes have started under the worst circumstances and with no hope or thought of becoming good athletes. Therefore we urge every man in college to realize that he can be a factor in our athletics and to join the nine or the crew or the Mott Haven squads.
