The freshman crew is putting in its final work this week before going to New London. A week or two ago there was some talk of leaving Cambridge at the same time as the 'varsity, but this idea was abandoned and now the plan is for the Harvard freshman crew to go to their New London quarters next Monday. The men will probably take the 2 o'clock train on that day and on arriving at New London will proceed to their quarters at Capt. Malthrop's mansion half a mile south of the 'varsity quarters - the house which the freshman crews of Harvard have occupied for the last few years. Several improvements have been made in the house. D. F. Jones '92 will go down to New London with the crew, and will stay with them till the race. Since the 'varsity crew has left Cambridge, the freshmen have taken possession of the 'varsity's old eating room at Mrs. Bucknell's.

A few changes have taken place among the freshman crew substitutes. Cook has stopped training on account of press of work and Ninde has also been compelled to give up work on account of continued illness in the family. Hence there is now but one substitute Lambert. Lately, however, Murchie and Irving have been doing some work and it is possible that one of them will go down with the crew as the second substitute. As a whole, the crew has made an improvement in their watermanship, although there are still many glaring faults. It is expected, however, that the steady work at New London, the morning and afternoon rowing will make the faults less noticeable and put the vim and precision into the stroke which is absolutely necessary for victory over the '95 crews of Yale and Columbia. The following is the order of the crew, as the men are rowing now and as they probably will row at New London:
