It is a poor spirit which is dissatisfied and complains at a result because it thinks it might have got more. The good spirit takes what it can get, is grateful to those that gave it, and means to get more next time. This is about the way to take the result of yesterday's game with Yale; some of us expected a little larger score but all of us are glad that Harvard won and are grateful beyond words to the men who brought us the victory. The Harvard nine played a great fielding game; to be sure Highlands monopolized most of the victims, but the play of all the men was accurate and steady. To shut Yale out without a run is no small matter and one which has been accomplished by a Harvard nine only once before. For this the present nine deserves a great deal of praise and credit. It was hoped that Harvard would show up rather more strongly at the bat, and at the game on Tuesday the batting will doubtless be still heavier.

As this is the last time that we shall be able to speak to the nine, we want to express the gratitude which the college feels for the tireless work that it has been through, and its thorough appreciation of the meaning of yesterday's victory. The work which the nine has done deserves to be crowned with equally glorious success next week.
