Yesterday the tournament was brought down to the finals which are to be played this morning at 10.30 on the Carey court. The championship lies between Orcutt and Johnston who are both putting up a clever game of tennis, so the match bids fair to be an interesting one. Three out of five sets will decide the match. The matches played yesterday resulted as follows:
Orcutt beat Phillips, 6-1, 6-1; Orcutt beat Simonds, 6-3, 6-3; Johnston beat Hunt, 6-5, 6-3. In the consolation matches, - Dodge beat Hoag, 4-6, 6-3, 8-6; Bradlee beat Taylor, 6-3, 6-4; Sand beat Atherton, 6-4, 6-3; Sharples beat Sand, 6-1, 6-5. In the doubles, - Hunt and Johnston beat Read and Winslow, 6-3, 1-6, 6-2; Lyman and Chase beat Bradlee and Boyden, by default.
Matches today will be played at the following hours: At 10 a. m. - Bradlee vs. Sharples. At 1.30. - Dodge vs. Bradlee, (finals for consolation prize), (Orcutt vs. Johnston at 10.30).
