Those who say that Harvard is devoting its energies to "keeping up with the times," and thus neglecting the classics will find food for reflection in the announced visit of Professor White and Dr. Tarbell to the American School for Classical Study at Athens. They go to take an active part in the advancement of classical study and research, in a work which has its value for classical students of all nations. In this work of the school at Athens, and too in the foundation of the school Harvard has played the part of an enthusiastic and steady supporter. Her professors have devoted their time to personal attendance at the school, as Professor White will do this year, a service which only the student of the classics can justly appreciate. The visit of both Dr. Tarbell and Professor White to the school at Athens is but another instance or the fidelity with which Harvard still nurtures the study of the classics.
