After the victory at New London last year and in view of such bright prospects for the race next June, one would naturally say that the crew would find almost unbounded support in the college. Yet the manager of the crew reports that the subscriptions are not as large as they were last year. This is not only mortifying, but serious. A winning crew costs just as much as a losing and one needs just as many funds to carry it through its season. If the men do not respond promptly and generously to the needs of the crew, they will lay themselves and the college open to the disgraceful charge of unpardonable disloyalty.
