The idea of a national convention has aroused such interest in the college, that the committee has decided to hold the convention in Sanders Theatre, to which the public will be invited.
The grounds of the Tioga Athletic Club have been chosen for the Intercollegiate Tournament, held under the auspices of the Athletic Club of the Schuylkill Navy.
By direction of the President, Captain James S. Pettit, First Infantry, is detailed as Professor of Military Science and Tactics at the Sheffield Scientific School of Yale University, to take effect Aug. 1, 1892, to relieve First Lieut. Charles A. L. Totten, Fourth Artillery, who will join his battery.
The libraries, laboratories and museums at Cornell will hereafter be opened in the summer and instruction given in Botany, Chemistry, Philosophy, Physics, English, Latin, Greek, French, German, Classical Archaeology and Physical Culture.
Of the 12 commencement speakers appointed at Dartmouth, E. C. Potter, the salutatorian, is the best all-round athlete in the college; E. K. Hall was captain of the foot ball team, and is now manager of the Athletic Association; J. J. Rollins is manager of the base ball club, and C. H. Gould was foot ball manager last season.
Ex-Captain Cowles, of the '86 Yale crew, has been coaching this year's 'varsity of late, and he has made even greater changes in the crew's make-up than did "Bob" Cook. D. Robert and Chatfield, who were retired a fortnight ago, have again been given a trial at bow and No. 3 respectively, while Sanford has been withdrawn from No. 6 and Captain Hartwell placed there, and Paine takes Hartwell's place at No. 4.
