The candidates for the freshman nine practised on Norton's yesterday afternoon. The most promising men were given practise in fielding at the regular positions for which they are trying, while the others took turns at batting in front of the nets and at fielding.
For the last week or more there have been about twenty-eight men trying for the nine but as this number was larger than could be handled to advantage, eight men were dropped last night Wadsworth the temporary captain, who has been prevented by illness from practising with the men lately, will probably begin work on Monday.
