To the Editors of the Crimson:

DEAR SIRS - Through your columns I should like to call the attention of the gymnasium authorities to the condition of that part of the gymnasium known as the cage. The only fielding practice that candidates for the freshman nine can get there is in trying to stop seven or eight grounders every afternoon. This practice amounts to very little at any rate and is reduced to almost nothing by the condition of the ground. In five cases out of ten the ball does not bound within three feet of where it is expected. It ought not to require a great amount of work to keep the ground in at least decent condition. If it were looked after once a week, it might be considerably improved. One does not expect a base ball diamond like a tennis court, but a fielder would like the ground to be level enough not to hide the ball at any moment after it leaves the bat.
