On Norton's field yesterday afternoon the Junior eleven defeated the C. L. S. eleven by a score of 12 to 0.
Ninety-four played a good game and the interference when the backs were running was especially good. Gardner and Gleason made some very good gains around the ends. Gleason made one brilliant run around the right end, going about 60 yards and scoring a touchdown. Brooks gained well through the centre and kicked goals from the touchdown. The most noticeable faults of '94, were slowness in getting the ball in play and too much scrapping in the center of the rush line.
The backs showed a tendency to play back too far from the line when '94 had the ball. All of the men tackled well and the Cambridge team did not make any long gains.
Two twenty minute halves were played Ninety four lined up in the following order:
Wrenn, r. e.; Beals, r. t.; Davis, r. g.; Lee and Whitney, c.; Williams, l. g.; McDonald, l. t.; Ladd, l. e.; Cabot, g.b.; Gardner and Gleason, halfbacks; Brooks, f.b.
NINETY-FIVE, 30 - BOSTON LATIN, 0.The sophomores had little difficulty in defeating the Boston Latin School eleven on Norton's yesterday afternoon. They played with a good deal of snap, but the excellence of their work was rather spasmodic, and at times their play was inexcusably loose.
Ninety-five started the game with a V, and made a good gain, which was followed up by a series of quick rushes, and finally McNear carried the ball over for the first touch-down; no goal. Raymond soon scored another touch-down from which Richardson kicked a goal, and then McNear, aided by excellent interference scored again. Richardson failing to kick the goal.
In the second half Raymond scored two touch-downs, and McNear one, from which Richardson got two goals, making the final score 30 to 0.
'95 lined up as follows: Davis, l. e.; Grant, l. t.; Cockrell, l. g.; Ducette and Potter, c., Hitch, r. g., Teele and Pierce, r. t.; Richardson, r. e., Wrenn, q. b.; McNear, Miller and Bacon, h. b.; and Raymond, f b.
