The work of the nine goes on steadily and is essentially the same as printed in the CRIMSON of Jan. 6. It is too early to draw any inferences about the character of the team which will represent Harvard in the spring. None of the old men have as yet begun training except those who are trying for the positions of either pitcher or catcher. The others will begin immediately after the mid-year. In the meantime the new candidates are practiced in stopping grounders and in starting. After this they run to the gymnasium, sometimes directly and sometimes taking longer distances, and end with dumb-bell exercise, varied, now and then, by work on the chest-weights. The men who are now in training are: Lake '92, Washburn, Fearing '93, from '94, Lowell, Linfield, Frothingham, Quigley, Harding, Paine, Hapgood, Hoag; from '95, Rogers, Whittemore, Heard, Manning.

Aside from these there are the candidates for the battery, under the supervision of Keefe. Their training is distinct from that of the other candidates, and consists simply in pitching and catching. There is no practice in batting in the cage for any of the men. Attention to this will be given when the out-door work begins. The candidates for pitcher are Walton M. S, Spalding '92, Howe '93, Winsor '93, Wiggin '93, Highlands '94; for catcher, Cobb D. S., Upton '93, Corbett '93, Cabot '94, Clark '94.
