Since the class races the river seems quite deserted; but the 'varsity has lost no time. It is working away, under Adams, L. S., the coach, trying to overcome its faults by hard, persistent rowing. The fine rowing by the class crews in the race seems to make every man realize how much better the crew ought to be to win against Yale next month. The make-up of the crew has not been changed for some time, but it would not be surprising to see some of the class crew men replace some of those in the boat at present. Yesterday in some respects the crew rowed better than it has at any time this year. The watermanship is decidedly bad, the boat is very unsteady at times, several men are slow at the catch, slow in getting the arms straight, and do not use the legs hard at the right time. Adams seems to be a judicious, effective coach, and highly appreciated by those who know the work he does. The freshmen have not done much since the race. They were out a little while yesterday. The order of the men in the boat will be changed probably. By the time of the race with Yale and Columbia we may expect to see it a fast crew, judging from its exhibition in the class race.
