The freshman game on Saturday was a great disappointment to the college. It was satisfactory, however, in two points. The college supported the team well throughout; the nine, although it did not win, showed promise of future excellence. From this last sign we are encouraged to believe that our freshmen can win the second game of the series if they go to work from this time forward in the right spirit. A glance at the work so far shows that they have some very distinct needs. They are greatly in want of a coach for both batting and fielding. The Yale freshmen have had an excellent coach throughout the spring in Mr. Dalzell, a 'varsity player for three years. Our freshman nine has had no such advantage; the captain has been compelled to work practically alone with his men. We hope that Captain Dean will see fit to appoint, if possible, a competent coach for the freshmen. Some such course is the only one which will gain us a victory.
