Sophomore Crew.

During the past few days one or two changes have been made in the sophomore crew,- Burgess has been put in at stroke and Miller changed from stroke to 2. The order, however, is by no means final. Hight, L. S., has been coaching the '93 crew for the past two weeks, and Goodenow '82 will do the coaching during the vacation when the crew will row twice a day. In common with the other class crews, the '93 crew will stop work next Saturday and take three days vacation.

The following is a list of the men in the order of their rowing with some of the principal faults of each:

Stroke, Burgess. He catches often with bent arms and hunches his shoulders at the catch.

7, Davis. Straightens his legs out before his shoulders are braced, but otherwise pulls a good oar.

6, Slade. Is slow at full reach in getting pressure and as a consequence kicks his slide out. He hurries his draw.

5, Earle. Slow with shoot, drops his body down at full reach, and pulls his hands into his lap at the finish.

4, Hathaway. Does not control his body well on the recover and bends his arms too soon.

3, Hand. A new man, and for a new man, rowing fairly well. He is slow with his shoot, however, does not get his body swing before he begins to slide, and hits the water with his oar on the recover.

2, Miller. His oar is too high at full reach, he does not break his arms past his sides, and consequently his oar comes out of the water too soon.

Bow, Ellsworth. He is slow at the beginning of the recover, does not get his body away before his slide, reaches around with his outside shoulder, and is apt to be behind.

The substitutes are Brewer, Bisbee and Pike, the last of whom is the slowest of the three in his movements.

As a whole, the crew is rowing in very good time and the men are all working hard. They lift the boat, however, on the catch and kick it astern, and also yank their arms into their laps on the draw. The finish is also hurried too much.
