Foot Ball Game.

A large crowd assembled on Norton's field yesterday afternoon to witness the foot ball game between two picked teams chosen from the squad, which has been at work under the 'varsity captain. Two short halves were played and the game resulted in a tie, neither side scoring.

The teams played very evenly, as the the score indicates, but the first eleven had a little the better of it. The ball was twice within four yards of the goal of Trafford's team and only by the hardest kind of work was the game saved and the ball carried to the middle of the field. Once in the first half the second team kept the ball for some time in the first eleven's territory, but Malone's goal line was never in imminent danger.

The men played well and showed interest and snap, especially so when it is considered that most of them had never played in a 'varsity game. There were no brilliant plays but there were several long runs and some good tackles, and above all the playing showed an interest and conscientiousness on the part of those engaged which is deserving of praise.

The teams were made up as follows; First team-Rushers, Blagden, Beals, Dunn, Bangs, Ellis, Jenkins, Carey; quarter-back, Malone; half-backs, Merriam, Gage; full-back, Duffield.

Second team-Rushers, Gray, Lee, Hall, Brice, Winslow, Draper, Pierce; quarter-back, Trafford; half-backs, Gray '94, Jackson; full-back, McDonald.
