The freshman nine has been playing for several afternoons on one of the diamonds in Norton's Field. The mud is as bad there as it was on Jarvis a week ago, so it is difficult to judge as yet what the team can do. The playing yesterday was very much like that of other freshman nines on their first few days in the field. The teams were made up as follows:
First Nine-Linfield, Hoag, pitcher; H. Cabot, catcher; Homans, 1st base;
Lowell, 2nd base; P. Cabot, 3rd base; Gardner, Quigley, short stop; Newman, left field; Smith, centre field; Hapgood, right field.
Second nine-Minton, Hoag, pitcher; Paine, catcher; Coburn, White, first base; Kirwin, second base; Coffin, third base; Short, Green, short stop; Earle, left field; Harrison, centre field; Coonley, right field.
