Professor F. W. Putnam the curator of the Peabody Museum who is in charge of the Archaeological exhibits at the World's Fair is at present in Chicago overseeing the preparations for the work which must be done in his department.
The greater part of the Mound builder and Central American collections will be gathered expressly for the purpose although specimens from the Harvard Museums will be transported if required.
Perhaps the most important contributions from Harvard will be specimens which will doubtless be discovered in the mounds and tombs of Honduras.
The government of this republic has granted the exclusive privilege to the University of excavating and exploring all ruins and mounds in the State. Permission has also been obtained to retain one-half of all objects discovered.
