At the meeting of the Harvard Union last night considerable discussion took place with reference to the arrangements for the joint debate with Yale. The six committees who had the matter in charge were not however able to report definitely, but two plans were proposed for obtaining the money to meet the expenses, namely, by subscription and by charging admission. Mr. Dallinger for the executive committee reported that the Yale men could not get a Yale professor to come up with them, and all things considered preferred that no decision on the debate be made.
The following men very elected to the society. C. G. Boney L. S., J. O. Nichols L. S., J. W. Young L. S., J. S. Brown '92, J. W. Howorth '93, and F. N. Clapp '95.
The question of the evening was
Resolved, That a national prohibitory law would be for the best interests of the country. And the principal disputants were: Affirmative. - W. C. Damon '92, and J. P. Morton '92. Negative. - E. C. Campbell '92 and H. G. Nichols '93.
