At Appleton Chapel last night Rev. Charles Pullman took his text from 1st Samuel XXI, S. "The King's business required baste." Though David told a lie yet it is true that the King's business does require baste; what are the helps that are available? The whole issue of life hangs on the first question. If we are here on the King's business we will try to do it well. The King's business is the development of a larger character, the King's business is doing the best we can at every moment. Haste is necessary because we are not here long. Haste is necessary to prevent our getting out of touch with duty and God. Haste is necessary because reformation is hard, and becomes harder as time goes on. The helps that are available are Jesus Christ who has the power of moral induction, and the touch of the Divine power, of God himself.
During the evening the choir sang the following anthems: "O Give Thanks unto the Lord," Jackson; "Lovely Appear,'' Gounod; "Blessed is He," Redhead.
