The collectors appointed by the manager of the 'varsity crew will begin canvassing the college for subscriptions today. Practically the only way to get money to meet the expenses of the crew is by subscription. Every man should remember, however, that the crew is the only one of our important athletic teams which asks subscriptions from the college now, and give generously when asked. The expenses of the crew are always heavy; but all who subscribe have the satisfaction of knowing that their money is carefully and well spent. The management of all our athletic teams has been of such a business like character of late years that the college can well afford to give with confidence when asked. Besides this the crew has certainly earned the loyal and enthusiastic support of the college. The magnificent work of last year can never receive adequate recognition. The crew has as yet received no tribute to last year's victory. nor has it asked for any. It does now ask for financial support which shall enable it to repeat this year the work of last, and it should be given at once and generously.
