Hare and Hounds.

The H. A. A. held their first hare and hounds run yesterday afternoon. About thirty-five men who had assembled in the Gymnasium at four o'clock started off after Guy Lowell '92 and Manley '93, the hares, who had been given seven and a half minutes lead.

A slow hunt had been decided upon and G. Batchelder as master of the hounds kept his pack together very satisfactorily. The day was perfect for the sport and the enthusiasm of the runners made the pace sharp.

The hares laid the trail behind the Jefferson Laboratory and doubling in Norton's woods continued on over through Somerville across the Fitchburg tracks to the Boston and Maine. They then ran up the bed of the railroad to West Cambridge and over to Fresh Pond, and from there down Concord Avenue to the Gymnasium.

The pack followed the trail without seriously loosing it until the scent lead among the railroad tracks near Tufts College. Here a great deal of time was wasted before the trail was picked up again, only to be lost for good in the brick yards of North Cambridge. After a good deal of time had been wasted in ineffectual attempts to find it, the darkness made it impossible to run farther. It was accordingly decided to cross over to Porter's Station and have the break down North Avenue. About twenty-five men lined up and went away for the Gymnasium, every one for himself.

C. A. Blake '93 finished first, and the next six men in the following order: Carr M. S., Fenton '95, Corbin '92, Whittier '94, Gray '92, Lowell '95.

Cups will be given to Lowell '92 and Manly '93, the hares, who more than made up their time allowance, doing the seven miles of the course in 52 min. 7 sec. Also to Blake the first hound.

Next Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock the next run will start from the Gymnasium as on yesterday.

All men who have once given an afternoon to this exhilarating sport become frequent joiners in the runs, but word of invitation should be extended generally to the college.
