H. S. Wilkinson '91, will go to Washington this winter to act as private secretary to Hon. Henry Cabot Lodge.
The Sargent prize for the best metrical translation of one of the odes of Horace was won by a freshman, G. R. Philbrook of Fitchburg.
The present entering class at the medical school is the last which will have the option of taking a three years' course. All subsequent classes must take the four years' course.
Mr. F. W. Nicholson who was to have had charge of Latin B, C, and E, has married and gone to Wesleyan, where he will take the head of a newly founded department of Sanskrit.
Statistics of the Yale freshman class show an increase of 61 men in the scientific department and only 5 in the academic department. There are 462 men in all in this year's class, 264 in the academic and 198 in the scientific department.
A prize has been offered to Harvard students for the best criticism of "Margaret Fleming." discussed from the point of view of its quality of art, standard of taste, truth to life, power to interest, and ethical impression.
