About thirty candidates for the Yale nine begin training today. The work will consist as usual in batting practice of ten minutes for each man, and at 4 o'clock every afternoon base running and sprinting will be practiced together. The following old men will begin training: Poole '91, who has caught Stagg for two years; Calhoun '91, (captain), who was captain last year and has played second base three; McClung '92, shortstop and first base for the past two years; Owsley '92 S, and Murphy '93, third base and centre field respectively last year; Cushing '91, right field for two years; N. McClintock '91, outfielder three years; Bowers '92, substitute pitcher, and Jackson '92 S., freshman catcher.
The new candidates are: Case '94, from Andover; Dickerman, captain of the '93 team; W. McClintock '91, and F. Huntington '91, left field and second base on their freshman team; Heffelfinger 91 S., catcher for the '92 freshmen; Kedzie '93 S.; Stewart '94; George '94; Thompson '93 S.; Ritchie '94; C. H. Ewing '93; Hackett '93; Meyers L. S.; Lewis L. S.; Wylie L. S.; Harvey '93; Loring '91 S.; Lovell '92; Beach '92 S.; Newell '93. The men who will be tried for pitcher's positon are: Case, Wylie, Bowers, Stewart, J. Evans, Hatch, Ridgeway, Crawford, Warner and Finlay.
