By the election of a member of the senior class to the office of president of the Harvard Union, the society has returned to a long established precedent. The action of the ex-president and of the society is commendable, since, had an underclassman held the office the society would have lacked the support of the senior class.

The Harvard Union offers an opportunity to every member of the University to perfect himself in the art of speaking before the public on subjects of the day. Any student may become a member by speaking twice before the society.

A question was selected last evening which will be of interest and will make a good debate on the issues of the day. A large number ought to attend the opening meeting which occurs next Thursday evening.
