A meeting will be given by the Boston Athletic Association, at the Irvington Oval, Huntington Ave., Boston, on Wednesday, Oct. 8th, at 4.30 p. m. The following events will be open to all amateurs, under the rules of the Amateur Athletic Union: 100 yards run 880 yards run, running broad jump. All events will be handicap and the handicapping will be done by the official handicapper of the A. A. U. Silver cups will be given to first, second and third in each event. Entries close on Saturday, Oct. 4th, at 6 p. m., with H. S. Cornish, Exeter St., Boston, and must be made on Boston Athletic Association entry blanks. Entrance fee, 25 cents.
The joint meeting given by the Salford Harriers, of Manchester, England, the Manhattan Athletic Club, and the Boston Athletic Association, will be held at the Congress St. Ball Grounds, Boston, Mass., Saturday, Oct. 18, at 2 p. m.
THE EVENTS.100 yards run, 220 yards run, 440 yards run, 880 yards run. 1 mile run, 5 mile run, 2 mile steeplechase, 1 mile walk, 440 yards run (novices). running high jump, putting 16 lb shot, running broad jump, pole vault, 220 yards hurdle race.
All events are handicap. Handsome gold, silver, and bronze medals to first, second and third in each event. Entrance fee, fifty cents for each event. Entries close Thursday, October 9, 1890, with H. S. Cornish, Exeter St., Boston, Mass. All entries must be made on Boston Athletic Association entry blanks, which can be had on application to H. S. Cornish.
